Shohei Takasaki (b. 1979, Saitama, Japan) lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Self-taught in painting, Takasaki works on canvas and paper in both abstraction and figuration. Takasaki explores the unknown, bringing dense forms into motion to reflect a better understanding of his own consciousness. Solo exhibitions of his work have been held at Upfor Gallery, Portland; Dar Al Funoon Gallery, Kuwait; Backwoods Gallery, Australia; and Tokyo galleries Calm & Punk, Space EDGE and more.
