Originally born in Memphis, Tennessee Peyton Freiman is an internationally exhibited, multi disciplinary artist who comes from a line of artists and craftspeople that lived and worked in the deep south. His grandmother was a painter, who exhibited in galleries across Memphis, his mother is a painter, art teacher, and art collector. His sister painted and taught art, and his brother Andrew Freiman is a painter living in Oxford, Mississippi. Peyton Freiman grew up surrounded by the regional artists his mother and father collected, like Caroll Cloar, Ted Faires, Walter Anderson, and Glen Ray Tutor. Peyton's work is heavily influenced by these artists and combines a pastiche of southern folk and California stoner art like the counter culture comics of Robert Crumb, and the drawings of Raymond Pettibon.

His work has been featured in the Paris Review, The Wall Street Journal, and his debut solo show at Shin Gallery, "Long Gone and Missing", was listed as one of Time Out New York's top 5 shows in New York. Since moving to New York in 2014 Freiman has participated in multiple group shows, and his arts writing has been published in the Wild Magazine.
